China Africa Seminar

From 19 – 20 June, Dr Kyle Tomlinson and Mr Krizler Tanalgo attended the China-Africa “Seminar on the Development and Education of Ecological Science”, hosted by Yunnan University in Kunming. The seminar meeting on 19 June was composed of invited of speakers from China and African countries and covered tropics from pure ecology through to environmental policy, conservation, and education. Several excellent talks were given and all delegates agreed that there was great possibility for increasing collaboration between China and African countries across the topics discussed. Dr Tomlinson presented a talk entitled “Current and future cooperation between XTBG and African research institutions”. Dr Alice Hughes sent a video presentation entitled: “Challenges and opportunities to conservation in Africa and Asia”. On 20 June delegates were taken on an excursion to Jiaozi Snow Mountain, a 4223 m peak north of Kunming, famous for its high diversity of Rhododendron species.
